I have picked up a few more classes to teach, covering for a coursemate who is flying to Milan for a long weekend (sounds so glamorous, right?!?). I'm also taking the online Teaching Business English course that I mentioned a few postings ago. So I'm keeping busy. As I see it, I'm actually spending a little too much time in front of the computer when I still have a long list of places I want to see before I leave! Is it possible that I will have been here for 9 weeks and not get to see everything that I wanted to....I think it may happen...
For those of you familiar with Barcelona, I'm sure you have heard that this city is filled with pickpockets and purse snatchers. I have heard numerous times over the last several weeks to "mind my bag." Fortunately, I had spent most of my time here wondering what these people were talking about. I never felt threatened nor had I even seen anyone close to being a victim of these delinquents. However, that all changed on Saturday afternoon. As I was meandering my way along the quaint, pedestrian streets of El Borne toward the Picasso Museum, I heard a woman scream out. Then I saw a man running right at me with a purse and stuff literally flying out of the bag! People were coming out of shops to see what the commotion was about...and several men tried to stop the guy. They almost had him, but the thief sure was determined to not get caught. He disappeared around the corner so I'm not sure what happened after that...but it was really nice to see that there were some Good Samaritans willing to help out. Unfortunately, one of the guys got a broken watch from his heroic deed... :-(
On a happier note, I hope you enjoy these pretty photos of Barcelona's better side!

Great pics!! I was getting concerned when you started telling the story about the purse thief, I was very relieved that you weren't than a spectator! I hope they eventually caught the guy! As far as the sun is concerned, I haven't seen it too much here lately. I'm happy your weather has been better!
Hi Jen, I'm going to try this for the third time. I thought entering a comment on s blog-spot was supposed to be easy. It is not. I love the pics and wish I was there visiting. I'm sure that you would be a great tour guide. Love, Aunt Marsha Also, I'm happy that you weren't a target for a pick-pocket.
